INSOLES FOR LATERAL ANKLE SPRAIN

These Salfordinsole™ insoles for lateral ankle sprain are part of our clinical range used throughout the UK podiatry profession.

Key Benefits

  • Stabilises the ankle
  • Controls outward roll (supination)
  • Reduces risk of recurrent sprains
  • Supports recovery from ankle sprain
  • Restores natural foot biomechanics
  • Developed by UK podiatrists

How The Insoles Work

They incorporate a built-in 5° lateral wedge that supports the outer (lateral) edge of the foot and helps prevent excessive outward rolling.

This stabilises the ankle during weight-bearing, reduces strain on injured lateral ligaments, and supports natural foot biomechanics.

Insoles without lateral support will be ineffective.

Fit & Practical Details

  • Individually sized to fit most footwear

  • Machine washable
  • Durable, long-lasting design

Understanding Lateral Ankle Sprain

A lateral ankle sprain occurs when the foot rolls outward, overstretching the lateral ligaments.

This can lead to lateral ankle instability and repeated sprains (chronic lateral ankle instability).

Repeated outward rolling places strain on the ligaments, reduces joint control, and increases the risk of further injury.

Lateral wedge insoles help control this motion, stabilise the ankle, and support recovery by restoring normal foot and lower-limb biomechanics.
