Pronation occurs when the foot rolls inwards and the arch of the foot flattens during gait, hence the term 'flat feet'.

Understanding pronation and



Pronation is a normal part of the gait cycle and helps to provide shock absorption at the foot, but overpronation transfers this shock to the muscles, tendons and ligaments of the foot, ankle and knee.

What can over pronation cause

There are a number of common conditions that are related directly to overpronation, such as:


Achilles Tendonitis

Flat Feet

Hallux Limitus (Big Toe Joint Pain)
