Understanding Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction 
 
Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD) occurs when the tendon that supports the inner arch of the foot becomes overloaded and weakened.
 
Overpronation (where the foot flattens and rolls inward excessively) increases strain on this tendon.
 
Common symptoms include pain or swelling along the inside of the ankle and foot, difficulty standing on tiptoe, and discomfort during walking or prolonged standing.
 
If left unmanaged, PTTD can progress, leading to further arch collapse and reduced foot stability.
 
Firm, arch-support insoles that control pronation are a standard clinical intervention to reduce tendon strain and support the arch.
